The Donald Fermaglich Fund was established in 1995 in memory of Donny Fermaglich who died at 24 years of age after a prolonged battle with kidney disease. Although he dealt with illness heroically, Donny lost his fight largely because up to date information about treatment and cures for kidney disease were not available to his doctors.

In 1997, inspired by Donny’s courage and perseverance, his family and friends set up a memorial fund with the National Kidney Foundation of NY & NJ. The fund’s goals were to raise money for treatment, prevention and awareness of kidney disease. Subsequently, the fund held several events and fundraisers which were well attended and raised nearly $100,000 in 1997-1999.

Fast forward to 2015. 2015 is the 20th anniversary of Donny’s passing and once again, his family and friends have come together to commemorate his life and remember him. The Donald Fermaglich Fund will be holding a special 20th Anniversary commemorative benefit event on June 17th, 2015 at the PH-D Rooftop Lounge at the Dream Hotel Downtown. 

This event will be a fundraiser for the Ronald McDonald House New York. The Ronald McDonald House provides temporary “home away from home” care for pediatric cancer patients and their families. The Ronald McDonald House is the largest facility of its type in the world.
